YOU NEED TO BALANCE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA TO NURTURE HUMAN INTERACTIONS AND RELATIONSHIP!!

Your family, your friends, your loved ones, your colleagues, your doctor, your house help, the stranger you bump into on the street, the stranger you pass by without noticing, all of these people define you. They are your ecosystem and you need to nurture them.

With the advancement of technology and social media, most of us have started living in a cocoon. We usually stay detached from others even when we are having lunch or dinner with them. There are enough options available to keep us entertained without any interaction with a real human being. Human  interaction is in fact now considered a major distraction in our lives that resolve around a virtual world, which we are used to access through our electronic devices.

I agree that Independence is important but it does not have to mean total isolation from the rest of the world. Let us not forget we are human being and, at the most basic level, need to feel a sense of belonging, acceptance, importance security and mutual respect. Even in the virtual world, we find ourselves surrounded by people who share their tiniest achievements in order to receive some “Likes”.This is  how hungry we are for social approval. It is somewhat sad that instead of depending upon our actual ecosystem for such emotional needs, we have started depending heavily upon virtual acquaintances.

As is quite natural, with passage of time, this leads us towards loneliness and even depression. Trust me, social media cannot replace actual or real relationship. You need to understand that a strong, healthy relationship can be one of the best support in our life. It strengthens the mind, health, and our connections with others.

Preserve it! Don’t let it go. Because once you let it slip from your hand, it will never come back to you.

PLEASE REMEMBER THIS AND START NURTURING YOUR ECOSYSTEM!!

  1. I agree but its getting harder and harder. Last year I went out for lunch with two friends and sat there while they kept looking at their phones so I got up and left. They thought I’d gone to the bathroom and started calling me 15 minutes later confused as to where I was. I have better things to do with my time – I value it even if others don’t. I don’t think mobile devices have made the world a better place but I’m praying the younger generation will rediscover face to face meaningful relationships.

  3. I agree that social media can not replace actual or real relationships .If we start giving half of this time to our relationship, then our real relationship will start to flourish even faster than before and happiness will be scattered everywhere! Living in reality is the key of real happiness!
