LIFE IS FOR THE LIVING. NOT FOR TOO MUCH SLEEPING!!

I know you may not like me on this point but i owe you my truth: Most people sleep more than they need to. They fall into the trap of spending some of the best hours of their lives on a mattress.

I invite you to consider an insight: sleep begets sleep. The more sleep you take, the more you need. Have you ever noticed that as you sleep more, you feel sleepier ? Strange, is it not ? But its true.

Yes, i agree that sleep is essential to keep us radiant, renewed and healthy. My fear is too much sleep. The kind that keeps great people ordinary. The kind that minimizes high-potential lives. The kind that sucks the living out of human beings destined to stand for excellence. And you know who you are. Happens to a lot of us. Because we fall in love with a pillow.

Life is for the living. I need to repeat that: Life is for the living. You and i have been given a gift today: to have the opportunity to make a difference. And we need to seize and respect that gift.

So sleep less. Live more. And as Benjamin Franklin observed, “ There will be plenty of time to sleep when you are dead”. I love this man.

  1. Something to add to this, Ravi. I have found that I only have anxiety dreams when I sleep longer than I should. I rarely do, but when I do, an anxiety dream means it’s time to get up. Good stuff. Nietzshe’s wise man in Zarathustra has a good recipe for sleep for anyone who might need it.
