THE ONLY WAY TO INFLUENCE PEOPLE IS TO LEAD THEM BY EXAMPLE!!

My flying training was the best phase of my life. It taught me many lessons which i very much remember even today! When i was undergoing Flying Training, my instructor and Mentor wing commander Vincent Mendonze would often tell me one thing and i still remember his conversation. He said something brilliant that i wanted to share with you. Because it speaks to the best way to influence other people. Lead people by example!!

“Ravi”, he said, “The greatest sermon in life is the one you see”. Very sensible and sensitive idea: to me that meant, Make your life your message. Live your truth. Walk your core values. Behave your conviction & philosophy. That’s how you can move those around you to play at their best. No other way!!

It is so easy to talk about a brilliant & splendid lesson. Far harder to live it. But the great ones do it. Elegantly. Consistently. Passionately. My dad is one of them.

This reminds me what famous psychologist Abraham Maslow said once, “In order for us to become truly happy, that which we can become, we must become.”

  1. You had me at Maslow. You actually had me before that, but you definitely got kicked into higher gear with Maslow. Love that dude. Indeed, Ravi, lead by example. Walk the walk, not talk the talk.

  2. one of my favourite write-up. So true as they say ‘things are easier to be said than to be done. In my life I myself get influenced with what people actually do as compare to what they advice and preach. We have so much knowledge to talk about but important is how much we live it and how we inspire people.
